Report by Daniele : Jingo de lunch, live berlin so36, 20.09.07

One year later, Jingo de Lunch is back in Berlin.
This time, they don't play at the “White Trash Fastfood” but at the mighty SO36, Oranienstrasse, Kreuzberg. Last year it was only a 2- days reunion show, now the things are getting bigger, this is the 20 years anniversary tour.
Compared to last year, it was also easier for me 'cause now i live in Dresden, so i didn't have to drive so many kilometers and furthermore i have a new car (Panzer Vectra died last year)...but it was on tuesday and the day after i have to go to work so..fuck, we got the attitude!
I arrived around 7 p.m and many people were already here, drinking and waiting for the gig. It was like a mini festival with 4 bands...so i had no other alternative than to wait and be patient. The first band was good , the girl had a very strong voice. Regarding the other bands i can't say too many things i don't even remember their names...anyway...
Two hours later, Jingo started, it was overcrowded and before starting the show Tom made a speech, i think it was about how great was that night and how excited they were to play in front of a crowd where they could see so many friends.
I was excited too, Jingo + so36 = this is History!
The first thing was the sound, great, powerful, a wall of sound, with all the peole singing aloud all these punk anthems.
The setlist was very good, they did Chew and Spit from the B.Y.E. album and it was a great surpise for me. Obviously Growing Pains was the one i am more into, for a “geographical” reason, but all their songs were great. Axe to grind is my fave, so the songs from this album all sound great to me, i remember a lot of good songs like Did You Ever, Seen and Done and Axe to Grind..are inside of me. As i always said i don't like too much cover songs but Cowboy song, like last year, is always the best.
The show lasted around two intensive hours. The crowd asked always for more and Jingo didn't say no! Great show, great and very nice people, a must!
So now what do we have to expect in the future ? More jingo is the answer!!!!!
A special thanks to Laura for the support, Henning, Ywonne, and the others Jingos, Luk and Val, my new panzer auto (we run the future), the chinese restaurant that tried to kill me before the show and cursed earth.
Daniele.
