During the 80s I was with the UK armed forces in Germany. I had the pleasure of playing in a local Bielefeld band called Mind Over Board (MOB). The guys were called Notdurft with their previous singer and had 1 album and a couple of tracks on compilations. It was with the drummer of this band (Oliver Bebnorz) that I travelled up to Amsterdam to watch Jingo in an old warehouse / squat. I cant remember who else was on but it didn't matter as Jingo were phenoniminal and I went out and bought their first album. On coming back from Germany I boxed up all of my vinyl albums and as the first few years of the 90s had quite a bit of moving around the albums remained boxed till this very day. The reason is partly due to the fact that I never bought a record deck and started buying CDs instead, always saying that one day I will buy a deck and listen to those old records but today in my car I was playin a tape which I think Olli did for me with the Crumbsuckers and Gangreen on it but also fitted into the remaining space on the tape was the Manson Youth album. Today I bought a deck and opened the boxes of albums to find the Jingo album to play. It was brilliant and sounded actually so new but for the one track that was jumping/scratched. I have therefore been on the Amazon site and ordered a copy on CD for the unbelievably low price of 4.20 pounds. I also ordered De Ja Voodoo to see how the band progressed over the years. I am a born again fan of the band, only got to see you once but it will always be in my memory and that to be honest is quite hard to believe considering that the gig was in Amsterdam and we were a bit worse for wear. If anyone knows the wherabouts of Olli or other members of MOB/ Notdurft please email with info.
Thanks,
Dave.
